Our Mission
Keeping LA Cool
Shade isn’t just comfort—it’s where Angelenos come together and come alive.
From trees to park canopies, we’re weaving shade into the fabric of LA’s streets, culture, and future.

How we can create shade that lasts—space by space
-
01
Shade Oases
Transform unshaded spaces at public parks into cooler, more comfortable places to gather by offering a library of temporary shade structures that City and community partners can deploy at events, free trees to plant at home, and community activities that help make the spaces more enjoyable.
-
02
Shade Zones
Enhance transit waiting areas by adding modular shade structures, misting systems, hydration access, and community programming.
-
03
Shade Corridors
Add trees and built shade, such as shade sails, to walking paths to keep people cooler and more comfortable while moving through neighborhoods.
-
04
Shade Commons
Reimagine exposed play areas into climate-resilient spaces by integrating shade structures, trees, and, in some cases, clean-energy features, to protect kids, students, families, and spectators from the heat.
